This bleak city patrolled by men and women with rifles looks almost apocalyptic.
But it’s not the end of the world, it’s the Syrian city of Raqqa under ISIS rule. One brave woman has chosen to wear a hidden camera in order to show the world what ISIS is like. The militant Islamists took Raqqa over a year ago.
The woman, swathed in a niqab, seems to hide the camera in her sleeve. She is stopped by a man in a car, who tells her that too much of her face is showing.
The report, commissioned by French news Channel 2, also shows what’s become of French women who emigrated to Syria to get married or join their husbands.
The women, about 150 throughout the city, huddle in Internet cafes, explaining to their families that they can’t come home.
It’s a terrifying sight, and this woman risked her life so that you could have a glimpse of the realities of ISIS.
